    February 12, 2020 /

The newest viral video depicts a little girl upset as her mother angrily cuts  her freshly braided hair. Beads and braids litter the sidewalk as we watch the crying toddler grieve amongst the commotion. What is going on and why is this baby left to be humiliated? When I first came across this video, I didn’t really understand what I was seeing.   View this post on Instagram   #PressPlay A father shares a video of his daughter’s mother cutting her braids out because she was mad he allowed another braider to do her hair! #Socialites how would you have reacted? 👇🏼 A post shared by HOLLYWOOD UNLOCKED (@hollywoodunlocked) on…

    Always Cancels Women

    October 29, 2019 /

Can I have something FOR MY PUSSY THAT IS STRICTLY FOR HER?! Always has decided to remove the Venus☥ (feminine) sign from its line of sanitary products. Before you can guess, this has something to do with transgender/gender equality… Of course. Before you get mad at my introduction, keep reading. You guys know that I’m an asshole.   I have absolutely no issue with anyone standing up for their rights, fighting for equality, or whatever it is that oppressive forces have made one’s life fight or purpose. However; when it comes to a point where I am beginning to feel attacked as a natural born woman, that identifies as a…

    The NFL Boycott

    September 27, 2017 /

YOU STILL showed up. You still patronized. You STILL tuned in… Most of all, you STILL cheered on your favorite team. Where in the hell was the NFL boycott at? I’m confused. Locking arms with hypocrites, kneeling on one knee… two knees, bowing your head, cursing out Donald Trump did what? Hiding in the locker room is NOT a damn boycott. Wearing Colin Kaepernick’s Jersey on football Sunday is Not an active protest. This doesn’t even make sense.   This shit is a maddening trend of insanity that has to stop. This is counterproductive… Being “woke” is the new sexy regardless of how crusty your eyes may be. Woke went from being…

    When Love Kills

    August 29, 2017 /

TV One finally made the debuted When Love Kills on August 28th, 2017. This was a cautionary tale about Falicia Blakely. Falicia Blakely was a young woman in the Atlanta area who ultimately lost her life by the hands of her own naivety. Blakely is not dead in the physical. After seeing what happened to her, she might as well be. The story is about a young girl who got crossed up living the fast life in Atlanta, Georgia. She began dancing in clubs at the age of 16 and ended up pregnant. It got worse after that. She fell in love with a pimp that set out to break her…

    Does Boycotting make sense?

    August 29, 2017 /

Does Boycotting make sense? Do we know how to boycott? Is this method of fight outdated? These are questions that I ask myself as I observe the patterns of my people.   We have seen how the issue of racism has transitioned and changed. We have watched the evolution of both white supremacy and technology… Yet we decide to combat evolutionized ways of hating with things that we have done decades ago. We are geniuses at screaming “boycott” or “protest” at the first site of injustice. We advertise the revolution on our t.shirts. We reduce it to clever quotes and fashion statements: “Stay woke”. We are backstroking forward…   I…

Hail Oj Simpson!! Forget our Ex political Prisoners

    August 13, 2017 /

On Thursday, July 20, 2017  we witnessed the parole hearing  for OJ Simpson. It was televised during the early afternoon hours for all to see. What made it worse is that this was actual news and so many Americans wanted to see the outcome. Popular culture has had this eerie fascination with OJ Simpson ever since his acquittal for the murder of his late wife: Nicole Brown and her best friend Ron Goldman in 1995. Nicole and Ron were both well known drug addicts in Hollywood– shhhhh! Their deaths came as a retaliation: Colombian Necktie… That is another article though. I will stay on topic.   Why are we still harping…

Growing up Advice that I would give the 20 yr old me

    April 6, 2017 /

There are no set rules to life. When I entered my 30’s, I reflected on my 20’s and wished that I had someone there to encourage and give me real sensible advice for navigating through adulthood.     1. Learn to love yourself first. Don’t focus on loving someone else for life just yet. You’re in your 20’s, you have the rest of your life. Besides, You don’t even know who you are just yet.   2. Live your life for YOU. don’t try to please others regardless of who they are. At the end of the day, you have to live with the choices that YOU have…

Why do black people still endorse McDonalds?

    March 9, 2017 /

Why are black people still endorsing McDonalds? Recently,  the mega fast-food giant released a new Big Mac commercial that disturbed me. I mean, they got niggas in a drum line, dribbling basketballs, rapping, stepping, break dancing and all kinds of shit. Fast Food is NOT one of the elements of hip hop. Furthermore, I am pretty sure, any serious athlete is not consuming “all-beef” patties and special sauce before or after a game, unless if nausea and vomiting  is some unknown performance enhancer. When viewing any form of TV programming, the bombardment of commercials  is a guarantee. What is obvious to me, is the amount of products that have ‘black folk’ as…

Surviving Alcoholism: What it took to save my Life

    December 19, 2016 /

Alcoholism almost always points to other issues…Mine was,  I wasn’t happy. In the eyes of others, I was doing extremely well. Everything looked great on the outside. A picture perfect, young black woman making her way in Atlanta.  I worked a regular 9 to 5, had my own place, and payed my own way. At that time,  I was the very definition of “Independent”.  A strong and independent sista that was dying inside. Everyday, I was killing myself with liquor because I could not deal with my shit. A sober day wasn’t a great one at that point in  my life. Reality was too much. I couldn’t sort through my…

    No “Fence Riders” over here

    December 14, 2016 /

A “fence rider” is not a reliable person. They play neutral for the sake of being non-confrontational. These people will make excuses for others. They have selective vision and hearing. They are not reliable.  Fence riders are dangerous. You are either Hot or Cold. Lukewarm is not an option. Fence riding is a character flaw. Fence riders are easily compromised. They create a middle ground that doesn’t require true conviction. In other words: They believe the bogus, bullshit excuses they make for not taking a stand. The saying, “You either stand for something or fall for anything” holds  no weight or validity to them. They are clueless.  They have no…

    The Real Thanksgiving

    November 24, 2016 /

Like others, growing up, I always looked forward to the holidays. Thanksgiving was always a joy and Christmas was the greenest grass of them all. Holidays are supposed to serve as a time of love and family unity all in commemoration to what we have been told for years. I remember going to school for the first time and learning  about Thanksgiving. I remember a portrait painted in my head of the pilgrims discovering the New World (Which was already occupied). Supposedly the Native American’s (Not Indians) broke bread with the pilgrims and even showed them how to live off the land. They even had a feast to show their…

5 Reasons why the Black Community needs to reconnect with Courting.

    November 21, 2016 /

Courting. It is a word that you do not hear today. In fact, most of us either do not know the word and if we are only familiar with the term, it is because of our elders. As time progressed, we transitioned from “courting” to “Netflix n chill”, “cut some”, and “Chillin’ at the house”.  Are the days of dating with a righteous purpose over? Is everybody just horny beasts that only want to fukk? When did we lose touch with the art of courting? 1. Abstinence is your friend We have forgotten how essential courting is when searching for a serious partnership. Sex is taken so lightly. We do…
