Episode #13: Mutulu is Welcome Here

Dr. Mutulu Shakur was set for release from Federal prison on February 10, 2016.  His release never occurred.  He was informed that he would only be scheduled to get a hearing for parole on April 4, 2016. Dr. Shakur has violated no serious rules in his entire 30 years of captivity and has promoted unity and cooperation among prisoners in the Federal system.

Similar to Shakur, Veronza Bowers had a release date come and go with no movement. June 21, 2005, was the day Veronza Bowers was to be released from federal prison on mandatory parole after more than 31 years of incarceration. This date was based on a vote of the five-member U.S. Parole Commission in D.C., the highest governing body in that system. Veronza has served his full sentence under law. He has been a model prisoner with the highest possible Bureau of Prison rating and was recommended for parole several times, only to have his release rescinded at the last minute. Veronza Bowers is still incarcerated.

These two stories are a couple of examples of the plight of political prisoners and prisoners of war who remain tucked away in the industrial complex. Tonight we open up a dialogue to share thoughts and inform the audience about continued legal system abuses. Liberty to the captive: The next Blaq Hour chapter.

Episode #12: Parenting with Purpose

it takes a village…few would argue that there is much more important than the work we put into preparing our progeny for living life. in this day in time, there are a bevy of distractions that come in a barrage against the building of blossoming young minds. everyone must follow their own path, yet, the guardians of children help pave the way.  what information, ideas, approaches to the conversation, and education is best for our heirs? do we teach them to become productive members of society? or is it best to suggest they set sails to blaze their own trails? knowledge of self is the key…how do we give our children what they need and encourage them to be free without being contradictory? We gonna talk about parenting with purpose and what that means to the community and to you. It’s the BlaqHour on some MAFIA business. That’s Mothers and Fathers in Action. What’s Happenin’?

Episode #11: Mobilize the People

What would happen if our people as a whole just stayed home?  You work from home, live off of your own land, become cool with your neighbors, and only shopped at community owned establishments… What would happen to the economy?” Lets imagine dark skinned individuals checking out, choosing not to be available for municipal manipulation. Based on the amount of dollars we generate and circulate, the United States may shut down. Drastic…Yet, we can encourage the growth of wealth and resources by making a conscious effort to invest in businesses that are putting bread on the family tables. Tonight we talk BOBBIN the next Cash Mob evolution.

We will contemplate the fate of a center that was designed with the spirit of Comrade Tupac Amaru Shakur in mind. Built to be a hub of Creative Community collaboration and cultural education, it has long been shut down, and now the building is for sale.  We look into ideas about what happened, why, and what we can do differently to insure that similar efforts flourish.
